Alexa Karabin is a multi-disciplinary artist. Through a variety of techniques, she creates two-dimensional works that explore themes of natural history, historical occurrence, memory, and cycles. On an aesthetic level, she is interested in complexity of texture and detail, and simplicity of design. She often takes a minimalist approach by painting a single object in space, but painstakingly focuses on the intricacies of the object. Her butterfly series explores themes of natural history, evolution, and metamorphosis. Alexa Karabin received her BFA and MFA in studio art from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has exhibited internationally and her work is in private collections around the world.
