I tried to capture the magnificence of the Eagle Owl, largest of the owl species in the world. We seldom see them and are blessed to hear the deep hoot of this owl late at night close to our home in Jacobs Bay.

I was born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1955 to an Afrikaans speaking mother and Irish father. Our family moved to Namibia (South West Africa). Currently I live in the quaint village of Jacobs Bay, Western Cape, South Africa. I’ve been fascinated by birds and other animals since I could walk. Somehow the independent character shown by each species has been an endless source of inspiration. I am particularly interested in raptors with their watchful eyes and princely dignity.
