ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In this encaustic creation, I combined the the texture of wax end depth of oil paints to explore abstract symbolism. The hues of blue and green reflect the mysteries of the subconscious mind, while the geometric symbols invite contemplation on the structured chaos of life. This piece is an invitation to introspection, adding a serene yet thought-provoking energy to any space. Encaustic painting over a solid wood board. Its size is 43 x 53.5 x 3 cm. The painting is framed. Encaustic is a wax based paint composed of beeswax, damar resin and pigment or oil paint, which is kept molten on a heated palette. When It's applied to the surface with brushes then it's reheated again in order to fuse the paint, bringing the colors into a harmonious composition.

Born in 1968 in Bulgaria, Rumen Spasov is a multidisciplinary artist, working with various mediums and experimenting with different techniques and art forms. In the beginning of his career he was painting mostly figurative art, classical and surrealist, but within the years he was attracted to the abstract art with its borderless possibilities of the means of expression. His creative process, unfolds the forms in a continual play between control and letting go. This allows him to express directly the creation impulses. Most typical for his abstract paintings is the refined style. It doesn't matter if it's a figurative or nonobjective abstraction, if accidental discoveries appear in the process of painting, they are intelligently employed to work. The colors are carefully selected to speak in one language to complete the overall harmony of the painting. But, the most common and obvious in his work is pursuing of aesthetics. Rumen's paintings are owned by collectors in the States, Europe and Asia and decorate the walls of many private offices and administrative buildings in Bulgaria. He makes solo shows almost each year and takes part in group exhibitions the year around. Through the years he had exhibitions in Los Angeles, Czech, France and Germany..
