About The Artwork
Butterfly painting Sephisa chandra (the eastern courtier). The remarkably contrasting pattern on the butterfly’s wings is reminiscent of stained glass. Orange, yellow, and cream spots of color are enclosed in a navy blue contour. Against a dark brown background, the wings seem to glow. This butterfly impresses with its elegance and expressiveness. Despite the spot’s simplicity, drawing on the wings of this butterfly is not boring. It differs from many of my paintings, where the multitude of colors permeate and mix, it is a calm, strong, even dignified composition. Paintings with a smaller color palette often surprise me and become one of my favorite works. It is perfect for a room full of greenery, its organic patterns on the wings will harmonize wonderfully with the leaves of the flowers. I thought it was such a clichéd, kitschy topic, so colorful, girlish, and tender. None of these things. The variety of colors and shapes of butterfly wings is shocking, it is an endless treasure trove of inspiration. Through this beauty, we pinned them to our walls and looked at these dead bodies without spirit. My butterflies are dead from the beginning. They lack soul, flat and still, only the colors of their wings vibrate. These lifeless, scaled jewels allow us to reflect on the beauty of the world, and its diversity and remind us of our determination to acquire beauty at any cost, at the cost of our lives. These are not hyper-realistic images, they are only supposed to be a simulation of the beauty of nature, a bit flattened, curled and remixed, torn, decomposed. The torn-out wings hang in the void of paper, but no one has died, and no one has suffered the fatal blow of a pin to feed our souls. Long live the butterflies!

My paintings draw from the world of plants and animals. I am inspired by these worlds, I like to transform them, simplify them, change their colors and add meaning to them. I enjoy the huge bouquets bursting from the vases. I am fascinated by the hare's crazy eyes that are following me in the studio. I use various media in Vases and Totems. Often the base is acrylic paints. Based on this, I start using contrasts. Thick and thin lines as well as spots and smooth color transitions argue for their place. My works are full of colors, shapes, lines, spots, thick lines and patterns. Based on the description, they could be accused of chaos and disharmony, but this is not the case. The compositions are mostly static, hieratic, central, even if they use asymmetry, they maintain balance. Every rebellion has its own framework here - a framework within which it is fulfilled. Totems are popcorn-flavored ice cream - the flavour is nice, but a bit strange. A pink lynx stares at us with its yellow eyes, a squirrel swims with a shoal of fish, an ibis stands on the fox's head. Totems are a reflection of us - individuals. Mostly composed of three dominant animals, these animals represent our human rationality (brain), feelings (heart) and what we feel subconsciously (guts). Totems can illustrate what we are like, what we strive for, what we want to become. Vases are an exotic, salty-spicy-sweet ramen. All ingredients create a coherent composition, but each ingredient can be removed, eaten separately, or replaced with another. The space is conventional, it is invaded by flatness and lack of perspective. There are many contrasts here - geometry next to biological, soft forms. Elements bordering on realism are located next to schematic, simple forms. Light and dark, dense and tight next to spaces full of breath, they try to stay in balance here.
