Serenity 1 Painting

This series is inspired by my love of water, the ocean and swimming. I have always lived near water and appreciate its ability to bring feelings of serenity, rejuvenation and connectedness with the divine. With these paintings, I hope the viewer can bring these feelings to their interior spaces and experience them daily. I am fascinated by the effects of light on the water and this painting explores the idea of sunset sparkles across the water. I am also fascinated by the effects that can be created using different types of paint and various types of paint application. I use a combination of fluid acrylics and medium body acrylics, often letting the paint colors mix and mingle on the surface of the canvas which creates delightful organic shapes. I don’t start a painting with an end result in mind, rather I start with a feeling I want to create and the painting evolves as I respond intuitively to what is happening on the canvas.
