Serious Face, Fun Mind Painting

My art journey started fairly recently when I started pursuing an education and career as a mental health therapist, particularly in trauma treatment. While it is incredibly rewarding and sacred to be able to hold space for people as they share and come to terms with the most vulnerable parts of themselves, it is very heavy. Art and painting portraits has become my way of coping with this unique role that my job puts me in. I stare at people's faces all day and watch as they go through a range of emotions, so painting faces is one of my ways of releasing the heaviness of other's emotions while expressing my own.
