About The Artwork

I painted this artwork in March 2019. Its a painting made with acrylics on a soft fabric called gauze. There are eyelets on the corners for the hanging and it is finished with a matte varnish to protect the paint, but I would recommend framing it in an acrylic box. The title was inspired by the singer George Clinton, and the Funkadelic album "Free your mind... and your ass will follow". The idea of the album, as George Clinton said was to see if they could cut a whole album while tripping on acid. This painting though refers to the idea of being able to embrace emotions and thoughts in such a way that one's become balanced and the master of its own destiny, which leads to a life where the exterior world no longer plays a role in the person's interior. I choose soft fabric because of its malleability, such as life, you can mold life or let life mold you.

Patricia Ariane is a Brazilian artist born in São Paulo, Brazil. Her artistic practice can be described as the pictorial representation of her daily extrasensory perceptions combined with influences from movements such as Figurative, Expressionism and Abstract. Each work of art is the result of an idea that arises through intuition. For the artist, painting is the means of communication for an experience of transferring emotion between author and spectator, in addition to art being a field of personal experimentation. Her perspectives seek to convey part of the artist and embrace part of the viewer through the act of contemplation developing a bond of expanded collective consciousness, giving rise to what the artist calls “creative imagination” and making the content of the work a field of unlimited possibilities. The artist also investigates various fields of knowledge such as philosophy, mythology, spirituality, psychoanalysis, parapsychology, biology, physics and neuroscience, a kind of artistic alchemy, investing in the combination and transformation of the artistic object. Painting since she was 3 years old, art has always been naturally present in the artist's life, but it was while in the Fashion College that she started to direct herself professionally to art, amazed by the Egiptian and Byzantine Art from History and Aesthetics class. Her first semester project was exhibited at the International Esmod Reunion (L'Ecole Superieure des Arts et techniques de la Mode), in Tunisia, South Africa, on July 2010. The same year she was invited to exhibit her fashion sketches at LAB Club in Sao Paulo. Through the Art History class Patricia got close to all the Vanguard Art Movements, mostly the Expressionism and artists like Edward Munch, Paul Klee and Egon Schiele. That same period she started to go to museums in Sao Paulo like MASP and Pinacoteca to see personally works from Andy Warhol, Max Ernst, Van Gogh, Picasso, Salvador Dali and dive even deeper in the art universe as she would also read about art in books such as “The Spiritual in Art”, by Wassily Kandinsky. In 2011, she started working at a Cultural Agency where she had in her hands works by Marc Chagall and Picasso. From that moment on, she started selling her paintings independently until she started participating in group exhibitions in 2017.
