ABOUT THE ARTWORK
In my shark paintings I place the subjects in a simplified geometric space. The sharks are painted with little detail to remove their dangerous identity and to heighten their streamlined sculptural forms. They are carefully placed into rhythmic repeating compositions to create quiet balanced spaces that allow the viewer to contemplate the forms. The scenes are lit with a single light source to emphasize the sculptural volumes and to create an illusion of choreographed drama.

I was born in East Canton Ohio in 1977. In 1996 I was awarded scholarships from Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, and received a Distinguished Merit Scholarship by The School of the Art Institute of Chicago to study painting and drawing. I moved to Baltimore Maryland in 2002 to work for New Arts Foundry to apply patinas on bronze sculptures. Over the years I've been involved in a wide variety of public and private projects ranging from monument restoration to sculpting commissioned portrait reliefs. In addition to working in the bronze casting studio I have exhibited work throughout the mid-Atlantic. Currently, I am focusing on creating new sculptures and paintings to exhibit publicly.
