This is a detailed view imagined through the eyes of Sheherazade, the heroine of the story of 1001 Nights. The window architecture is geometric, inlaid, and decorative, framing a night sky in Samarkand. On the ledge, a jeweled knife waits on her precious book of tales. I hope to bring the viewer into the story, while pleasing the eye with pattern, texture, and shiny things. I couldn't help but play with history and trompe l'oeil, and added details to be noticed over time. This painting is on gallery-wrapped canvas, which needs NO FRAME, as the paint continues on the 1.5 inch staple-free edges.
