This painting's concept originated in the piles of tape that accumulated in my studio. They become unwieldy mounds that stick to everything and as a result drag around the studio. The metaphor is how we carry certain burdens beyond which is necessary

Dan Angeli was born in Beloit,WI and lived in various parts of the state until settling in New York City 10 years ago. My early influences were Italian renaissance painting and the rational order of space is still prevalent despite my more recent investigations of crumbling infrastructure, chaotic events and disaster. This latter development took shape shortly after hurricane Sandy affected much of the eastern seaboard. The plasticity of paint allows Dan to express the energy of dramatic events while simultaneously rendering fragments of industrial forms affected by weather and or catastrophes. His work was recently featured in PaintPulse magazine, a contemporary NYC based art magazine and will be published in the forthcoming edition of Studio Visit Magazine. Recent shows include a solo exhibition at the Catskills Art Society.
