Art Description

Painting: Oil on Canvas.

Back in the ‘70’s, I raced on motorcycles with sidecars. I was the passenger, what’s called the monkey. The driver was Mike Haller. Mike and I met in art school and were very close friends all our lives, as close as two guys can get and not swap bodily fluids. We called our racing exploits, “The Ballet,” and we won many races we entered, we were even named state champions one year. It was the most fun I’ve had with another person outside of a bed. Mike died about fifteen years ago. I had painted about thirty-plus of these works, images of a toy sidecar that he gave me, flying through many different cloudscapes before I realized what I was doing—a tip of the helmet to my dear friend.
