A splash of beautiful autumnal blooms. Painted with Acrylic Flashe paint, a soft, buttery matt paint from France. The style is inspired by a close-up of a pixelated photo. When you zoom in, it looks abstract. Then as you zoom out the image reveals itself. This is halfway between those two points. The floral still life has long been re-interpreted by artists, here Jemma Ennis offers a fresh approach to the genre. Please note: The sides of the work have been painted so it can be framed with a Tray frame - where the sides are slightly visible in the gap between the frame and the painting.

The fragmentation in my work symbolizes the beauty we find in chaos, the harmony within disarray. In this current series of work, I explore the concept of fragmentation—manipulating images until they are almost unrecognizable. It’s about breaking down the familiar into a mosaic of geometric shapes, held together by commonalities of colour and form.
