ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I was inspired by the beauty of the light and colors and reflected on the surface of Siesta Lake in Yosemite. I hope the viewers will feel some of the magic that is in the web of life on the surface of Siesta Lake. I chose oil paint for the richness of the color and the ability to actually build the shapes of the plants on the surface of the water.

I work in Yosemite National Park as a tour guide. I have worked in Yosemite for over 30 years. My artwork is inextricably tied to my Yosemite Geography and my ecological message. I am a plein air painter, print maker, and photographer. I also write and illustrate my own books. I am the author of "A Brief Instruction in Christian Religion," (A translation of Faustus Socinus), "The Chronicles of the Field Mouse Timothy," (Corn,Tomato,Wheat, Cotton, Sweet Potatoes, Rice Paddy, Pond Mouse and Yosemite), "Nature Vision" (Poems), and I have illustrated the short stories of my late daughter Sandra Fontana "Cereal at Midnight." I love nature and the wilderness. I am a proponent of the global national parks movement.
