ABOUT THE ARTWORK
On the Tioga road in Yosemite there is a beautiful shallow, lily pad covered lake. I made several painting of this marvelous environment. I was inspired not only by this lake but also by the impressionist work of Claude Monet and his paintings of "Lily Pads and Ponds."

I work in Yosemite National Park as a tour guide. I have worked in Yosemite for over 30 years. My artwork is inextricably tied to my Yosemite Geography and my ecological message. I am a plein air painter, print maker, and photographer. I also write and illustrate my own books. I am the author of "A Brief Instruction in Christian Religion," (A translation of Faustus Socinus), "The Chronicles of the Field Mouse Timothy," (Corn,Tomato,Wheat, Cotton, Sweet Potatoes, Rice Paddy, Pond Mouse and Yosemite), "Nature Vision" (Poems), and I have illustrated the short stories of my late daughter Sandra Fontana "Cereal at Midnight." I love nature and the wilderness. I am a proponent of the global national parks movement.
