ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Poured paint, sculpted to resemble mountain landscapes with a touch of abstraction. The main goal is pouring the paint and creating magical interactions with the colours within the shapes. After looking at all the digital mod’s I did on iteration 2, I just decided to go with a pretty normal landscape like scene and let the prints do the “weird”. The background (non-mountain) paint is matte and contrasts the glossy mountain. Hard to show in the pictures, but I tried to depict it with the various angle shots. This iteration on the original, now becomes the final “original” painting. I decided to create 3 prints from this {within original, 3a, 3b}. 3 will represent the best likeness to the original and 3b and 3c are similar but have borders added right into the image - White and Black. I hope viewers enjoy the creations. All my pours are primarily acrylic (pouring paint and standard acrylics as well ) with different inks "injected" in limited quantities to create mixing effects.

Art to me, is just a subset of the rest of life. A balancing act between working hard and challenging yourself and having fun with the outcomes. Art usually reveals the inner workings of the artist. For me I have quite a wide range of interests and subject matter that I want to “cover”. I like experimenting with mediums, and even pushing the boundaries a bit. But I also like to go back to basics and compare myself to other classics, to gauge my abilities. I LOVE art, because of the mysterious way it moves us and evokes all sorts of emotions. I love trying to find that magical element that turns an abstract into something we like. Why do we like it? Why do we like those colours? Why do our tastes differ? Solving and manipulating these dilemma's is part of the fun. What makes a great painting of nature. I think the answer to these questions is elusive and changes with time. My tastes in art have refined since I have become an artist, and started to ask questions... My art represents my interests. So my subjects are the "usual ones", but maybe with a focus on nature, sports, and movement. This is evolving (with my push into abstracts), and I am not sure where it will lead, but that is the fun part…. I hope the viewers enjoy and maybe even support my efforts. Thank you for viewing.
