About The Artwork

Planet Gaea Series of works. This is a view onto the Thames valley from the wooded top of two prehistoric chalk hills in the South Oxfordshire. The hills are called the Sinodun Hills. They are surrounded by the bronze and iron age settlements. The summits, the Clumps, are wooded by some of the oldest tree plantings in England. The hills magnificently offer some of the most mesmerising panoramic views over the fields and first villages of the South England. I can not help being drawn to this magic place again and again. "Looking down through the Trees" is so far the largest of the paintings in the Sinodun Hills series. It is painted in oils and combines highly textured and smooth areas.
