ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Clouds swirl above a dark mysterious lake which nestles between craggy mountain peaks in Snowdonia, North Wales. The style and composition are inspired by post-impressionist painter Cezane and the great Welsh landscape painter Sir Kyffin Williams who both used painting as a way to embody the spirit of the landscape into their art. The paint is roughly mixed and vigorously applied with a palette knife in buttery slabs of impasto giving a sculptural quality echoing the rocks themselves. Flashes of pure colour - orange and cobalt turquoise sparkle through the subtle earth tones applied over a unifying grey gesso ground. This dramatic piece aims to evoke the magic and mystery of the mountains of North Wales.

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I am a painter of rugged landscapes following the tradition of Welsh painter Kyffin Williams and Vincent Van Gogh. In my recent work the palette knife has taken over from the brush and I am more interested in the effects of impasto paint and the act of translating experiences into images.
