About The Artwork

This is the first painting inspired by Soma Bay - a charming peninsular by the Red Sea. I wanted to take the viewer to a trip into the skies and reveal the beauty of the lagoon from the bird’s flight. This semi abstract painting contains sand from the location that inspired me to create this piece of art after travelling to Egypt. Creation of this artwork was a long process, requiring a lot of patience. I was layering Egyptian sand, stone and marble dust, brown, orange, yellow and blue pigments, and so this technique resulted in a very rich texture. The canvas is stretched on a thick 4.5 cm chassis. The edges of the painting are nicely finished, so it does not require additional framing and is ready to hang. The artwork is signed by the artist on the back and comes with Certificate of Authenticity.

I started creating art in the eighties. At first I was fascinated by photography, later I started painting and experimenting with sculpture, but whatever art form I chose, it was always inspired by my adventurous expeditions. I spent a lot of time in Egypt, explored the landscapes of Morocco, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and felt the greatness of Bromo volcano in Indonesia. Colourful and sculpturesque landscapes are my major source of inspiration, especially deserts. I admire the colours, constantly changing shapes of the dunes and sand as a material. I return from all my trips with some sand, soil or volcano ash that I am using to create my art. Some of my pieces were born in the desert and later finished in my studio. My artworks are semi abstract models of the most beautiful landscapes of all the places I have explored and of course Switzerland — where I live and create. My goal is to lay the beauty and tranquility of nature on canvas, by creating emotional, deep and textured semi abstract artworks.
