Some are Standing Painting

Born in Haarlem, The Netherlands. Currently living in Suffolk, England. I paint, am a photographer, write and illustrate children's picture books and design for theatre. My artwork is inspired by my fascination and passion for nature's landscapes, both the natural and the cultivated. In particular I am intrigued by the story to be seen in rock, soil, vegetation and water that mark the relationship with man down the centuries. I use the inkjet photographs as a painting medium, combined with acrylic paint, soft pastels and plaster. My earlier work often contained writing as part of the image. Over the years the work has become gradually more abstract, and the most recent series on panel are sparse, exploring the essence of the subject matter in a direct way.
