Sound Fracture Painting

Allison Rietta’s abstract paintings and collages explore mystic geometry, symbols and patterns, working predominately in watercolours and acrylics. Her work is informed by her graphic design background, and her spiritual practice of sound and meditation. Drawing on the sacred sounds of singing bowls, her pieces exude melodic vibrations in which colours transcend the visual into the auditory. She sees a direct relationship with the healing properties of sound and geometric rhythms as she blends the inner and outer character traits of spirituality with simple shapes and forms. Allison Rietta (b.1969) grew up in Toronto, Canada, and has lived and worked in Germany, Italy, and the UK. She has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Toronto, New York and London. Three of her abstract watercolour paintings were featured in British Vogue’s ‘Vogue Gallery’ print issues March, April and May 2022. Allison was longlisted for the Jackson’s Painting Prize UK, and most recently has been shortlisted for the Visual Art Open 2023 UK and International Emerging Artist Award. The Holbrook Hotel has exclusively aquired Allison’s artwork for their new 42-room boutique hotel in Roanoake, Virginia USA.
