About The Artwork
Part of my "Normal Heights" series. This painting is an homage to our favourite pizza, the best pizza in town: Spicy Salami from the Blind Lady Ale House. We’ve been addicted to this pizza since we had it the very first time, before we even lived in San Diego. We stumbled into the Blind Lady Ale House on Adams Avenue during our house hunting trip. The chili oil is the highlight of this Spicy Salami. You spread it on top of a slice, and when you bite into it, the cheese and spicy taste mix all together. You will feel like you are in hell, because you would like to keep committing this delicious crime which ends with being guilty of getting fat! The experience of having this spicy pizza gives me a connection to the TV show Stranger Things. It’s an evil kind of delicious, mixed with a dark pleasure after you swallow it up into your tummy. And tomorrow morning the punishment is a burning behind when you’re using the toilet...
