I am a photographer and painter. Born in the UK, I have lived in several countries and now reside permanently in Arvada, Colorado. I dislike being pigeon holed into one particular art form and I love being creative in whatever way inspires me. As a photographer I specialize in the natural landscape, especially of colder climate places such as England, Scotland, Iceland, Norway and Colorado and I may juxtapose photography and prose if I feel that will enhance my work. I now produce color digital imagery from my fairly extensive travels while I also have an archive of traditionally produced black and white images using large and medium format film cameras. As a painter I focus on both abstract and representational themes with a preference for a strongly impressionistic final product. I work mostly in acrylic but also in oils and use a variety of substrates including canvas, paper, birch panels and yupo. I am greatly influenced by modernist abstract and abstract impressionist painters such as Gerhard Richter, Joan Mitchell, Krista Harris (with whom I have studied), Jivan Lee, David Atkins and Louis Balaam.
