ABOUT THIS ARTWORK Albert Memorial, Kensington Gardens, May 2014. I'm doing an en plein air drawing course at the Prince's Drawing School in London and I'm creating a large format (44 x 30ins) watercolour drawing in one day. I wanted to paint the splendid Albert Memorial in its Plane Tree setting because it reminds me of my life as a student in the grey high rise opposite. It's a breezy but fine day and trees are still coming into leaf - have I got time to show the gilt-edged, a bit gaudy, reflective prince …? This painting is 44 x 30 inches and is gestural and spontaneous created in less than 3 hours during a day with the Princes Drawing School in Kensington Garden London. It may be framed but is here sold either as the original work or as prints to a specified size Patrick O'Callaghan - artist

Patrick O'Callaghan Artist: Patrick is a figurative artist painting and drawing from observation and imagination. His aim with observational art is to relate an honest interpretation of the view that inspired him - an unusual feature in a landscape - the colour of cloud in a storm - a crazily distorted tree..."The scene has to have some point to it; it's not just a random point of view". He's keen to avoid mannerism and technical effects. He is influenced by almost all art and design but Eric Gill, Edward Bawden, Eric Ravilious, Alan Fletcher, Edward Hopper, David Hockney are the heroes that have the greatest appeal. Patrick's, paintings are watercolour and gouache on heavy fine art papers; they are vibrant with uplifting colours and hopefully will lift the spirits. Please contact me with your feedback.
