About The Artwork
I have visited Arles, many times and have done several paintings in this region in the south of France, not far from the Camargue. St. Trophime is a UNESCO heritage site and was the favorite town of Emperor Augustus Caesar. The light in Arles is piercing and intense. Van Gogh also painted here and I wonder why he never chose this subject.
