About The Artwork

A common sight in Swiss landscape is a lone tree growing in the middle of a cultivated field. The artist wondered why. Was it left by the farmer to attract birds, or had the tree simply been growing there over generations? This was the origin of “Stammbaum” or Family Tree. The tree depicted in the painting is leafless and yet it is alive as the branches are painted in green acrylic. Red dots move from the tree into the sky, representing new beginnings. Please note that this painting is not a rectangle. The artist has created a unique six-sided canvas. “Stammbaum” is part of the artist's Habitat series, which is a celebration of trees, plants, botanical forms and animals.
