'I was born in 1958 into a working class neighbourhood, the son of a painter and decorator from London's EastEnd. Always surrounded by household paints they triggered my fascination with art. Although always having a passion for contemporary art I had done little to explore my own artistic aspirations until 1998 when I assisted a fellow artist in staging a presentation of paintings at the Agora Gallery on Broadway in NYC. Is was at this time that my interest in painting was rekindled and I began painting immediately on my return. Due to exceptional interest in my work I was encouraged to present my first solo exhibition in 2001 which proved to be an unprecedented success setting a new sales record at that gallery for a new artist. Since then I have presented both solo and group work at commercial galleries throughout the UK. My first London exhibition was in Shoreditch's New Inn Gallery at the end of November 2002 where I presented 'Urban'. A collection inspired by the exciting and colourful imagery of the advertising billboards seen on London's main commuter routes. The result was a set of six abstract paintings, each representing the momentary glance of a billboard from a travelling car at six East London locations.' In that same year America's foremost collector of abstract paintings purchased 'Arcade Game' and is now part of the renowned Haskell Collection - 300 major works by important international artists. Since the sale, interest in my work has spiralled and resulted in sales to other international collectors in Japan, London and the Channel Islands. My work has featured in the following publications:- London's Time Out Art Review Magazine Modern Painters Third Sector Attitude Magazine A specially selected work, 'Flamenco' was auctioned at Christies, London as part of the fund raising 'Art for Life' event in 2006. My 2018 show, entitled ‘Icons - The Glam Rock Years’ featured seven large-scale paintings all inspired by classic glam rock albums from the 1970s. This was my first show after an absence of seven years and sees the unveiling of new work combining the artistic influences of iconic figures in both art and music. Fusing the painting style of Picasso, Bacon and De Kooning with his passion for music, I have created a visual Greatest Hits of his favourite era in rock ’n’ roll.
