Visual Artist, Shundul Hoque Chowdhury was born in the town of Burnley, in Lancashire, in the North West of England, in the United Kingdom on the 7th of September 1973. Shundul has a complex physical disability from birth, caused by the rare condition, Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita. In his daily life he uses a powerchair. The disease which is none progressive, mainly affects the muscles joints and limbs. Shundul Hoque Chowdhury is an artist with a real difference, he paints using his mouth creating paintings with acrylics on cotton stretch canvas. Shundul also creates electronic music and digital artwork using tablets, mobile phones and PC computers. Painting started on a more serious level from his workspace, Studio71, in the hometown of Burnley in Lancashire, England, originally in 2009. Shundul created his debut collection of paintings from January to August also in 2009 and created works in The Redemption Series Collection 01. An art project, consisting of 25 individual acrylic paintings all produced on cotton stretched canvas. Shundul closed his studio in 2012 due to financial difficulties keeping the property and now works from his home. A sporadic attempt at creating some new paintings and digital artwork wasn't completed and abandoned in 2014. Due to issues with Shundul's physical and mental health no serious work was produced until 2018. Shundul Hoque Chowdhury has been working in the medium of digital art creation. He is still painting using his mouth but now with a stylus pen instead of using paintbrushes with acrylics on cotton stretch canvas. Work is now underway once again, but with the production of limited edition pieces of artwork manufactured by commercial printing companies.
