About The Artwork

Stillness is two panels of 50x70 cm (19.7"x27.5") each which make 100x70cm (27.5"x39.3") total. Dimensions: 70x100cm 27.5"x39.3" Acrylic, Gesso, Inktense, Caran d'Ache watercolour pastels on canvas. Signed on the front and varnished with UV protection, satin varnish. It will be delivered with a certificate of authenticity. I keep on working with the colours, to make them vibrate, to make them communicate with one another. I love the subtle modulations in the hues, and how it seems to be illuminated because of the work of contrasting, and balancing darkness and light. My artwork is as always about lights, mouvements, balance...the fragile visual equilibrium. It seems the quest is getting deeper, more profound, more spiritual even if somehow the spiritual part has always been very alive in my life, but I make it more visible through my paintings, the way I work the lights, the colours. It's like I am in a stage of a deeper understanding of the Rothko vibrating colours.

It always starts with an intention. I am a French painter, born in Provence, I now paint and live in the Languedoc Roussillon, still in the light of the South of France. Abstraction has slowly become my medium for sharing my mood, my emotions, there is no limitation, no boundaries with lines and colours, with shapes and tonalities in the abstract world. I am not afraid to change and explore new techniques, I have sometimes the need to explore new visual feelings. My definition of Visual Feelings is what you can feel when you are staring at something, the way it moves you, the way you are filled with feelings which can't be explained. My focuses while painting is the movement, the composition, the colours but, also the surface itself, smooth, board, paper, or textured, canvas, heavily primed surfaces etc...which will increase the pictural effects. The use of the colours is directly linked to the mood, to the environment such as the seasons, the weather, linked to what I have seen and what has fascinated me a way or another. Time is too short and I can't be caught up in a style that would define me even if I know my artist friends can recognize my work at first sight. There are too many things out there that I want to explore. I suspect that my comfort zone in Art is to have none.:) Thank you for visting my page!
