This painting was inspired by my journeys to and from Meltham to Midland stations during the 5 years I had a studio in Midland. It is my favourite piece in this series owing to the colours coming together as I liked which is not always the case. The constant movement of these carriages to the Kimberley from Perth means they become encrusted in dust and patina from the desert.I hope this feeling is conveyed to the viewer effectively. I worked with oil on board because I had attempted some works on steel and was having difficulty obtaining the right colours in enamel that these images required.
