ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This work is inspired by R. Frost's poem having the similar title. The human figure is a part of nature, the only place where one can really feel peace and silence. Snow is symbolising pureness and simplicity which cleanses the human body... and the human body is "us"... Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening - by Robert Frost Whose woods these are I think I know. His house is in the village, though; He will not see me stopping here To watch his woods fill up with snow. My little horse must think it queer To stop without a farmhouse near Between the woods and frozen lake The darkest evening of the year. He gives his harness bells a shake To ask if there is some mistake. The only other sound's the sweep Of easy wind and downy flake. The woods are lovely, dark, and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep.

-Melinda is based in London. Her work focuses on philosophical and empirical questions emerging out of human experience, both individual and collective. Her main focus is the human condition and one's internal world one experiences amidst the expectations of society. She is interested in the present and the past, her paintings explore different points of view on existence. -Experimenting with colour is important in her creative process, as well as partially deconstructing the forms which allows her to find an equilibrium between figuration and abstraction. -Melinda was born as an ethnic Hungarian in Transylvania (Romania) in 1976 under the communist regime, and as a teenager she witnessed the sudden uprising of the people, which eventually ended it. She found the transition between the silent acceptance into the outburst of desire for freedom fascinating. Later this brought up Melinda’s interest in Psychology. -In 2009 she graduated from the University of Art and Design, Cluj receiving her BA in Fine Art, Painting. -In 2013 she moved to England.
