ABOUT THE ARTWORK

On a dark stormy day at the sea, watercolor, gouache and ink with very little silver pigment. This painting consists of many thin layers of white, grey, black and blue watercolors. It shows mainly black, dark grey and some blue. These are the colors of night and of storm, what can also be seen as a metaphor for us all facing rough times at the moment. On Paper size 30x30cm (11,8x11,8 inches). The painting comes as a sheet of paper rolled without passepartout or frame. Collectors should choose their own passepartout and frame, the inner frame of the passepartout should be square. Black, white and silver frames would look very good.

Based in Germany, Gesa Reuter’s artistic practice started in 1996. She has since studied the techniques of the old Dutch masters, layering selfmade gouache, egg tempera and sometimes oil to build her paintings with different layers of paint from thin to thick. Recently she has discovered the power of watercolours and ink in her work, enjoying the way the watery materials leave marks and traces to describe her inner feelings and emotions. Rather than painting an accurate visual representation of a landscape, she prefers to use the power of memory; her artworks are an expression of her feelings and emotions in the moment of experiencing the landscape." (Inside Artists, Issue 9, Summer 2017) So far, her works have been exhibited in Germany and Europe, mainly sold to private collectors in Germany, U.S.A., UK, NL, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, to architects, small companies, private medical and psychological practices. In public collection of Amateras Foundation, Bulgaria, NHS England and Kunsthaus Stove, Germany.
