Stour Valley, Late Autumn Painting

A late Autumn morning. I drove around the Stour Valley in Kent, getting off the main drag and onto the small, winding roads that link villages and farms. I stopped to sketch and take snaps, and was struck by the geometries at play in this scene. The stickler might observe that, strictly speaking, the sky was not the colour of French mustard. However, that colour washes out the tones of earth, hedge and field perfectly, and so is right. The painting is mounted in a matte black pine tray frame.
