Street (Part Diptych) Painting

Although this piece is part of a diptych it, like its partner can be displayed happily on its own. Finding my way with gestural marks in charcoal. Often reusing canvas, layering paint, oil crayons, pastels and graphite. Wiping, scraping or sanding back to reveal earlier layers. Intuition guides the process eventually finding pleasing shapes, texture and areas of interest that are highlighted by painting around my images. I hope, whilst visibly pleasing, the piece provokes the viewer to find a their own narrative. Although my work is time consuming, often getting worse before it gets better, I love the process and a feeling of satisfaction on completion. Thank you for looking.
