From my journal: “ Scream when you’re frustrated. Cry when you’re sad. Feel the shit that hurts. Be gentle with yourself during the difficult moments. Hug yourself when you feel like giving up. Create when you can’t find the words. There is weakness in life, but sitting with your feelings is not weak at all. Break down when you need to. You’ll see your strength when you do”. This painting is signed on the back, by the artist. Mediums used are acrylic paint, both thick and thin. Over layers of tissue paper, to help create textures. Paint was applied using palette knives, paint brushes and finger painting. Will be shipped in a crate. *Colors may look different based on what screen you are viewing from.

Mireka Starr is an individual that is passionate about care. Not only does this show in her work as a CCA, it speaks loudly through her abstract expressionism and portrait art. Mireka describes painting as the love of her life. Mireka found this love in 2014 when her late friend and mentor, Davyd Whaley began to encourage her to use art as a form of self expression. Once she put paint onto a canvas she hasn’t stopped! Mireka uses a variety of colours, textures, and techniques as a way to convey her thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Adding to her style, she began to experiment with portrait work. This experiment became an added style after much time and dedication to perfecting this technique. As of late, Mireka has used most of her time creating new pieces as she creates artistic representations of her current reality.
