Studio Floor Painting

I wanted this work to feel free, edgy and spontaneous with dabs of color that appear random and unplanned. I chose a soft, warm white background to accentuate and contrast the vibrant color palette. I applied many layers of color with a transfer technique whereby I "brush-paint" the acrylic paint onto small cut outs of a rubberized material and press them onto the canvas with a roller. I then used this same "print-press" technique for the warm white paint on top of the colors. I think it's interesting that at some point the final white "over-layers" actually transform to look like the background.
