Safety instructions is a series of works whose idea was born during an endless journey by plane to distant China. Those little icons on the front passenger seat, representing advice to follow in case of a plane crash, aroused in me a series of thoughts about life, the opportunity and the usefulness of overcoming potentially deadly moments. This series of works is finally a meditation on life and death.

Augustin Răzvan Radu (b. 1974) is an emerging contemporary artist based in Bucharest, Romania. His pictorial practice spans themes of domesticity and the mundane, revolution and the politically grotesque, while resorting to humor and distortion as a form of destabilizing monolithic perceptions of reality. His work operates at the confluence of individual and collective affective memory, of a personal and spectral reality perpetually transferring itself into plasticity. Augustin's work is part of private and public collections in Romania, Austria and China.
