Study on symmetry in black and white. Painting

The 2 pieces of canvas rolled around the studio for years, one of which was serving as a floor covering for the studio. First one reappeared; I had the idea of the diptych; the other one cut out of what was on the floor. It is a study of symmetry and complementarity: white and black, day and night, right and left… In the work comes the reference to the fact that Color is context. The shade of yellow, for example, is the same on both sides, however it is differently perceived according to the predominance of white or black. Inevitably, in this kind of mirrored composition, a Gestalt arises: the mirrored form generates a form in empty space… emptiness is form and mirror of form.
