This work is inspired by one of the most fascinating and original forms of solitary ascetic life—stylitism. Stylites, or pillar-saints, are Christian ascetics who dedicate their lives to living atop pillars, where they preach, fast, and pray. Through the mortification of the body, they seek the salvation of the soul, symbolizing a profound renunciation of the material world in favor of the spiritual. Executed in oil on canvas, this piece masterfully reinterprets the classical Byzantine image, blending traditional details with a contemporary style. Layers of color and texture create visual depth, drawing the viewer into deep contemplation, evoking a powerful connection between the earthly and the divine. Every detail, from the stylized symbolism to the painting technique, reflects refined craftsmanship, offering a truly exceptional aesthetic experience. This piece is designed for collectors who appreciate not only technical excellence but also the spiritual dimension of art, making it a valuable addition to any collection dedicated to high-quality works.

Personally, when I create, I trust the solutions that appear spontaneously, I rely on my artistic sense and the competence of my aesthetic preferences. My art has the shape of a psychic improvisation with an emphasis on the intuitive use of materials, similar to the automatism of surrealists, the result being the expression of the power of the inner creative unconscious. Before each new idea it seems essential to me to define my own way of understanding, why does art exist? And does anyone really need it? In everything I create I tend towards simplicity, towards the simplest way of expression, because simplicity aspires to the depth of the reproduction of life. This seems to me the most challenging aspect in art: finding the shortest path from what you want to say, to the reproduction defined in a finished image.
