About The Artwork
The mirror of his soul" is the main object of the project - a person's face. To paraphrase a quote from the famous Russian writer Chekhov, I consider a person's face to be "the mirror of his soul". Mostly a person tries to keep his emotions a secret and shows rather a mask to others. But sometimes, for a brief moment, the soul comes into view, and then we can see what lies behind the mask. I have tried to capture those fleeting moments in my paintings. Nevertheless, the human face for me is not only a mirror that allows me to look behind the mask, but also a tool that helps me to evoke certain themes in the viewer's mind.
