About The Artwork

This is an abstract aerial landscape that came about as I was thinking about summer vacations. Looking down at earth configurations I see abstract compositions...I find all kinds of elements to play with - deep and shallow bodies of water, islands, bridges, highways, population centers. mountains, etc.. The cut paper shapes and other collaged elements you see represent these things. This painting also has textures that are applied prior to the application of paint. I want to control the archival color and so I apply the paint mixtures in many thin layers to build up depth and movement. When finished with the painting part I added elements such as tiny glass beads, fabric netting screening and thinly sliced and painted mat board. This painting is wired and ready to hang.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

My mixed media and collage paintings feature an abstracted representation of our physical world. I use today’s tool of satellite imagery via Google Earth to help me take you to a landscape that our eyes perceive, our minds infuse with meaning and imagination, and that our ancestors have modified and gifted to us. These explorations begin on gallery-wrapped canvas, using countless layers of acrylic color, built up by mixing and glazing, resulting in a luminous quality that can be found throughout my entire body of work. To further help me visually describe these landscape scenarios I make use of many altered found objects, cut paper, threads, metals, textured paper, acrylic mediums and so forth; building the surface with textural elements that are sometimes significant as a compositional tool and at other times as a descriptor of something specific in its own unique properties.
