Summer flowers. Nasturtium Painting

Bright red, orange, and yellow nasturtium flowers. Ink and watercolours on rice paper. Nasturtium are often pictured in Japanese art "Kachō-e Nihon-ga" - "birds and flowers". Although Nasturtium was considered a Western flower, images of these cheerful creepers were included in most popular editions of art books and printed on woodblock printed. In European art, Nasturtium flower means "victory in struggle", though the meaning has largely been forgotten over time. This particular painting was inspired by the Maltese spring-summer season. Clusters of lush green leaves, vivid orange and red flowers suddenly popped up on each and every corner, wall, and fence. The painting is signed, sealed, wet-mounted on backing rice paper and ready to be framed or mounted on a silk scroll. Please use acid-free adhesives when framing.
