ABOUT THE ARTWORK
After ‘Barfly’ from 2020, I wanted to create more insect - creature pieces. They are the perfect antidote to the heavy topics and stress that are all around us, in the middle of a global pandemic and amid increasing polarisation. What is fascinating to me, is the automatic humanisation that happens in the creation process of these ‘insect-paintings’. They become distilled life force, and pure humanoid emotion. We all understand joy. The piece was painted in an analogous colour scheme starting at yellow and stopping at blue - green. These colours represent the heart and crown shakra energy, therefore adding an uplifting energy on a subconscious level as well. Painting was sold before it was dry.

She was born in Antwerp, Belgium, but currently lives in Spain, where she is further developing her voice in the figurative surrealistic style.
