Joanna is a London-based contemporary figurative painter and art educator. Born in Poland, Pilarczyk studied at the Art University in Zielona Gora. She holds MA degree in Visual Arts and Art Education. After moving to London over a decade ago, Joanna fell in love with the city immediately. Amazed and entranced by diverse cultures and the vibrant energy, Joanna began to paint oil portraits of new acquaintances and friends within the artist community of North London. In her recent vibrant paintings she focusses on leisure, intimacy, self-awareness and relationship with other person and also nature. She says 'In my new body of work I explore subject of a stillness. A moment where the subjects are simply being, and free of responsibility. However it sits in contrast to vivid energetic colours. I want the viewer to be drawn in by the often dynamic compositions, the lure of the colours and then notice the stillness set within that'. Pilarczyk is a finalist of Women United Art Prize 2021. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally, recently she presented her paintings from ‘My Paradise’ series during her solo exhibition at Oink Gallery based in Swindon. She also took part in both Spring and Summer editions of the Other Art Fair in London. Her paintings from the ‘Intimate Times’ series are currently exhibited at 33 Contemporary Gallery in Chicago and Mixx Atelier Gallery in Telluride, Colorado. She also exhibited this year at 'Memories in Hindsight' group show at J/M Gallery, Notting Hill in London. The artist is now working towards StArt Art Fair which will take place at Saatchi Gallery in London from 12th October. Her paintings have been featured in various global art exhibitions and art publications including: Create!
