About The Artwork

This painting depicts the right bank of this famous resort and important fishing harbor looking inland. The place is well known fot its unchanged old houses and lighthouse. On the left is the Mediterranean sea and on the right the entrance to the fishing harbor. At the back on the right side you get a glimpse of the famous 'turning bridge' leading to the inside docks. Living not far the artist often goes there to make sketches and watercolors. He even exhibited several times in the vast building on the left called 'Villa Parry ' which contains a large exhibition hall and the tourist office. The artist realised this oil painting on a linen canvas using brushes, pallet knife and extrafine paintings with the help of watercolor studies he had made in-situ. He was particulatly interested in the cloudy sky, the reflections in the water and the contrasts between light and shade. This work is ready to hang. The sides are painted black for presentation.
