From the series: "Cuba a flor de piel"
This painting represents the scene of a religious procession on Cuba. An old black woman walks towards the spectator with a sunflower symbolizing her hope and fighting spirit. Her tired face is shouting out her insides. A whole life of sacrifices and lies, with the only hope of the fairness of their ancient deities: the African gods of their grandparents. "Sunflower" is an homage to the Cuban people, from a Cuban artist, painted from nostalgic memories.
