ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The flowers that I think most reflect existentialism. Which make you think, observe them, first in the field, then at home, during their formation or wilting. But their desire for the sun and its reflection in themselves, and the warmth that comes from the depths, always attract me and allow me to think about the meaning of my own life.

Maria Shevchuk was born in 1982. In 1995 she entered the painting department of the N.Samokish Art College, workshop of V. Shevchuk. In 2000 she graduated from College with honors. In 2005 she graduated with honors from the V. Vernadsky Taurida National University. In 2011 she defended thesis in general linguistics, in 2013 she received the title of an associate professor. Since 2015 she is a member of the Union of Artists of Russia and the International Association of Fine Arts - UNESCO AIAP. She takes an active part in collective exhibitions (about 70 exhibitions in Russia, Italy, France and Montenegro), the author of more than twenty solo exhibitions. The main theme of the artist's work is the landscapes of her native land and southern picturesque regions. During her journeys, Maria creates a series of paintings reflecting the landscapes of France, Montenegro, and Italy. Relying on impressionism in her work, the artist adds decorativeness to the painting style with the help of acrylic paints, which reflects a fresh look at the landscape as a whole and allows to create her personal style. Having mastered the technique of acrylic and painting a la prima, the author reflects on the canvas fleeting phenomena of nature . Maria often resorts to impasto to produce special three-dimensional effects and to make the canvas texture rich. Sometimes paints are mixed not on the palette, but already on the canvas to obtain the desired result.
