Inspiration based on something John Steinbeck wrote in his "The Grapes of Wrath" i.e. : "A large drop of sun lingered on the horizon and then dripped over and was gone, and the sky was brilliant over the spot where it had gone, and a torn cloud, like a bloody rag, hung over the spot of its going."

My paintings start with an idea which turns in to a virtual composition in my head. Then I try to translate all that on to my canvas by sketching contours, the rest I do while painting. Light and the play of light are the most important things in my work, even more so than colours.
