Surface Sections Painting

My paintings are about working out a balance between simplicity and complexity. I see my art-making as a way to better understand the physical and the spiritual...the ephemeral and the eternal. My nonobjective paintings are usually approached through the layering of gestural strokes and textures combined with hard-edged shapes in an effort to find a provocative interaction of forms and ideas. This particular painting represents a real attempt to simplify my work - trying to clarify my visual vocabulary. This painting is on gallery wrapped canvas and the pattern continues on the sides.
