About The Artwork

This is another study of color movement while describing a space that doesn't drop the whole way down to black, and doesn't rise the entire way to white, but creates a buffered experience of harmonious colors and color combinations that makes the eye continue to move throughout the composition. These paintings start as an exercise in layering a few different colors, but the mechanical and mathematic process quickly becomes an emotional response for each additional layer to be part of a journey through to a conclusion.

David Oleski was born in Boston in 1961, currently painting in his studio in West Chester, Pennsylvania, in the United States. While his education was in academic disciplines, he is now exploring a new body of work in vibrant abstract color field studies. These paintings were born from the foundations of traditional still-life. Endless hours were spent mixing and matching colors, so that color theory and the mechanics of color mixing became second nature. Pushing and pulling elements of warm and cool and space, depth and volume became the language of many years of representational still-life painting. Initially started as an experiment in studying the colors of depth and space, the abstract color field paintings evolved into stronger statements and deeper color spaces. The movement and vibration of these paintings became their trademark signature, and the immersive experience of each piece became on ongoing dialogue between the artist and the viewer. I'm thrilled that these new works are embraced by an enthusiastic audience, and the exploration into new color combinations and textures is nothing less than extraordinary.
