Suture Painting

Lesley Johnson is both an artisan/craftsperson and a fine arts painter. She graduated from one of Canada's top universities with a BFA in painting, then went into writing and illustrating 4 published stories, later into sign and decorative painting. This year's return to her original form of expression, painting, was inspired by a need to again do something physical, tangible, and expressive. As a dedicated yogi, she aspires to integrate the energy around her to create pieces that evoke a sense of comfort, release, and familiarity. Described as sublime, unreal, and alive, her work takes inspiration from William Turner, Richard Hambleton’s Beautiful Paintings, and Canadian/American painter David Bierk.
